The Annual Crime Reports does provide accountability to the Ugandan citizenry on how the Uganda Police Force is fulfilling its mandate as stipulated under Article 212 of the Constitution of Uganda. Generally, in the year 2021, there was a 0.1% increase in the volume of crimes reported to Police from 195,931 cases reported in the year 2020 to 196,081 cases in 2021. These crime trends were greatly influenced by the COVID-19 pandemic outbreak and the subsequent opening of all sectors of the economy.The report also goes ahead to identify some challenges, strategies and recommendations that the Uganda Police Force was set to adopt in fighting crime in 2021.
