Uganda's Rule of Law index 2024

Rule of Law is the foundation for communities of justice, opportunity, and peace-underpinning development, accountable government, and respect for fundamental rights. Rule of Law data is indexed on a scale of 0-100 to show each countries relative position against others in the database. Uganda ranked 126th out of 142 countries in the World Justice Project (WJP) Rule of Law Index 2024, with a score of 0.39. This represents a slight decline of less than 1% compared to the previous year.


Uganda’s Business Climate slightly improves and businesses remain optimistic

The Business Climate Index (BCI) improved marginally by 3.7 index points from 88.8 in the previous quarter (January-March 2025) to 92.5 in the current quarter (April-June 2025). Increased business activity, sales turnover, profitability, and improved selling prices are responsible for the slight increase in business sentiment during the current quarter.


Africa sustainable development report 2025

The Africa Sustainable Development Report (ASDR) is an annual publication that monitors the implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and the African Union’s Agenda 2063. The 2025 edition was produced under the theme: Advancing sustainable, inclusive, science-and evidence-based solutions for the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and its Sustainable Development Goals for leaving no one behind, and the African Union's Agenda 2063. The Report focused on SDGs 3, 5, 8, 14, and 17, along with corresponding goals of Agenda 2063.


Global Innovation Index 2025

The Global Innovation Index 2025 (GII) takes the pulse of innovation against a background of steady but slow global economic growth, shrinking innovation finance and sluggish productivity. It reveals the most innovative economies in the world, ranking the innovation performance of around 130 economies while highlighting innovation strengths and weaknesses. In the Global Innovation Index (GII) 2025, Uganda was ranked 124th out of 139 economies.

Uganda’s Infrastructure Transparency Index 2025

In 2024, CoST Uganda announced an 11% overall improvement in infrastructure transparency, as measured by its second Infrastructure Transparency Index (ITI). The assessment evaluated 30 government entities responsible for 58 projects across transport, health, education, water, and energy sectors. In Uganda, the ITI plays a crucial role. It serves as an evidence-based tool to assess how well public entities manage infrastructure projects, encouraging continuous improvement.
