In February 2022, Government launched the implementation of the Parish Development Model (PDM) to transition 3.5 million households (39%) from a subsistence to a money economy. Through Pillar 3 of the PDM (on financial inclusion), government extended 1.126 Trillion in FY2022/23 as soft investment loans to households in the subsistence economy aiming at inducing economic activity by households that cannot access private sector credit and enable them to effectively contribute to growth of the national economy.
