Government prioritizes agriculture as the key driver for national growth, wealth creation, employment and food security. Recently, the budget allocation has been doubled although remaining relatively low compared to sectors like Public Administration and Works, Housing and Urban development to mention but a few.

With increased funding of the agriculture sector it was expected that most of the planned interventions would be implemented in efficient and timely manner to enhance service delivery. The Budget Monitoring and Accountability Unit (BMAU) however, revealed that the Physical Performance of the sector has not been commensurate with the released funds especially for external financed projects.
