The Government of Uganda signed a bilateral health cooperation a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the US Government. The two governments signed a 5-year agreement to improve the capacity of GoU to contribute global health security, deliver better health outcomes for its own citizens, while reducing dependency on foreign health assistance.
Over the period, the US Government plans to provide US$1.7Billion of support as the Government of Uganda pledges to increase domestic health expenditure by US$577 million to gradually assume greater financial responsibility. The main priority areas for the MOU include: Outbreak response; Reducing disease burden; Strengthening frontline workers; and Advancing data digitization for accountability.
