The Presidents of Uganda and Kenya and the CEO of Uganda National Oil Company (UNOC) signed a Tripartite Agreement (TPA) as a framework to ensure seamless transportation of petroleum products from producer countries through Kenya to Uganda. The TPA aligns with Uganda’s broader goal of integrating its economy with regional and continental markets.

As a result, Uganda received the first shipment at Mombasa port on 3rd July, 2024. The petroleum products were transported to Uganda through Kenya Pipeline Company infrastructure, supplemented by fuel tankers.

The development is poised to bring greater stability to fuel prices and availability in Uganda. The successful delivery underscores UNOC’s capacity to manage the nation’s petroleum imports.
