Uganda acquired key representation in the leadership of African standardization bodies during the African Organization for Standardization (ARSO) assembly. The bodies include the International Organization for standardization from 2026-2028, Standards Management Committee from 2025-2028, and the ARSO council from 2025-2028.
This opens doors for Uganda to lobby and strategically influence standardization policies on a continental and international level, in line with Uganda’s export development agenda. It will also facilitate acceleration of fair trade in Uganda, the East African Community, the African Continental Free Trade Area and international market.
