Economic and Commercial Diplomacy Strategy Launched

The Strategy for Economic and Commercial Diplomacy (ECD) provides the essential blueprint for coordinating and engaging strategically with the global economy to expand market access and penetration for Uganda’s goods and services, attract transformative investments in key growth sectors, and harness international partnerships for sustainable development.

The strategy aligns with Uganda’s national plan, especially the Tenfold Growth Strategy, aiming for significant economic transformation. The ECD Strategy aims to:

  • Attract Foreign Direct Investment (FDI), diaspora remittances, and technology/knowledge transfers into key growth sectors;
  • Increase exports and market access for Uganda’s goods and services;
  • Boost tourism as part of the economic diplomacy efforts;
  • Strengthen institutional coordination and capacity, especially among Uganda Missions abroad and various government departments, to ensure a “whole of government” approach; and
