Agriculture and Energy were identified as the highest contributors to biodiversity loss by a study conducted between January and April 2022 specifically demonstrating the highest impacts on biodiversity loss.

Uganda intends to transition to a low carbon development pathway through the BIODEV 2030 project. The overall goal of BIODEV 2030 is to stop biodiversity loss by 2030 and achieve its restoration by 2050. The project is designed to help stakeholders in priority sectors to share their understanding of the threats to biodiversity, including identifying harmful practices and policies.

The project will be implemented by World Wide Fund (WWF) in partnership with Ministry of Energy and Minerals and other relevant stakeholders.
