Uganda Bureau of Statistics (UBOS) in collaboration with Ministry of Tourism, Wildlife and Antiquities (MTWA) launched the first ever Uganda Tourism Satellite Account (UTSA) as an official measure of tourism’s contribution to Uganda’s economy.
The UTSA is an accounting framework adopted by the United National Statistics Commission and was designed to measure goods and services associated with tourism according to international standards, concepts, classifications and definitions.
The specific goals are to estimate tourism demand and supply, assess value added by tourism activities to the economy, establish the level of employment generated by the tourism activities, measure the gross fixed capital formation by the sector, and measure the collective consumption of tourism services by the Government.
