East and Horn of Africa’s peace and security outlook still remains bleak. This is attributed to complex geopolitical and socioeconomic dynamics across the aforementioned regions.
The rationale of this report is to look at the peace and security dynamics of the entire East African Community sub-region and the Horn of Africa. However, EAC’s dynamic nature with interdependencies and interconnections with neighboring eastern, central and southern African countries necessitated a systemic approach. This meant looking comprehensively at sub-regional conflict systems those of the Horn and the Great Lakes regions for an analysis of the region’s peace and security situation.
