EAC signs MoU with Arcadia University, USA, to operationalise the Nyerere Center for Peace and Conflict Resolution in Arusha, Tanzania

In September 2022, EAC and Arcadia University, USA, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to collaborate in the operationalization of the Nyerere Center for Peace and Conflict resolution in Arusha, Tanzania. The MoU was signed at the Arcadia University, Pennsylvania, USA, and establishes the framework for operations of the Nyerere Center for Peace Research and the terms of the operational partnership between the EAC, the International Peace and Conflict Resolution (IPCR) program at Arcadia University, and the American Graduate School for International Relations and Diplomacy.


Uganda Wildlife Authority (UWA) and Wild places Africa and Tiang Tian Group sign concessional agreements

In a bid to develop Uganda’s Tourism and the Hospitality sector, UWA  signed concession Agreements on the 7th April, 2022 with two private sector players; Wild places Africa and Tiang Tian Group to develop high - end tourist accommodation facilities to cater for a certain level of guests at Murchison falls National Park and Kyambura Wildlife Reserve in Queen Elizabeth National park protected areas respectively.


Uganda and Democratic Republic of Congo sign a Memorandum of Understanding to strengthen peace and security at the border between the two countries.

The Ministry of Defence and Veteran Affairs (MoDVA) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Armed Forces of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) to establish a secure and stable environment along Uganda’s border points. The MoU will seek to strengthen border control and security between the two countries.


DPP Signs MOU with URSB for Joint Prosecutions

The office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) and the Uganda Registration Services Bureau (URSB) signed a Memorandum of Understanding to strengthen prosecution of cases arising from laws administered by URSB. URSB has mandate to enforce laws related to interfering with Intellectual Property Rights, patent right registration, trademarks as well as those related to registration of companies.


SEATINI and FSME Partner to Enhance Growth and Competitiveness of MSMEs

On 30th March, 2022, Southern and Eastern Africa Trade Information and Negotiations Institute (SEATINI) Uganda signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Federation of Small and Medium-sizes Enterprises (FSME) to enhance growth and competitiveness of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs).


Government Commissions a Water Supply System in Moyo Town Council

Ministry of Water with partnership from the German government through its German Development Bank commissioned a Ushs 6.4 billion piped water supply system project in Moyo town council. The water system, whose construction started in March 2020 will serve about 28,500 people in 39 villages and the Moyo town council divisions.


Digital textbooks for learners with special needs developed

To achieve equity and inclusive education for all, Ministry of Education in conjunction with UNESCO and the UN Partnership on Rights of Persons with Disabilities (UNPRPD) developed digital textbooks for learners with special needs. This follows an assessment that learners with special needs, especially the visually impaired, have problems accessing and putting to use ordinary textbooks sent to their respective schools.



Uganda National Bureau of Standards Signs MOU with USAID to Boost MSME Certification

The Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) sector plays a crucial role in the economic growth of Uganda with its GDP contribution standing at over 70 percent and its employment and job creation rising to 90 percent. However, due to a number of challenges like; lack of information, standardisation and product certification, legal and institutional challenges, they continue to experience high mortality rate.


UTB Seals Deal with UEGCL to Package and Market Karuma and Isimba Hydro Power Stations as Tourism Products

Uganda Tourism Board (UTB) and Uganda Electricity Generating Company Limited (UEGCL) signed a MOU to package and market the 600MW Karuma and the 183MW Isimba hydropower dams as superstructures/infrastructure tourism products. Isimba was commissioned in March 2019 while Karuma is expected to be commissioned in June 2022.
